How the Elements Work...


The elements are like any other form of magic. It is hard to explain, and to the people of Carista, it is just natural. Elements are either drawn from within a person or from the outside world. While it is possible for any element to draw from both, an element is more strong and sure when pulling from which ever -- inner or outer -- that they are designed to do. Rarely is there the same elemental control between two people, for the elements vary just as much as people do.



History has told of the Elements in their two Systems...

Inner Systems
The Inner systems consiste of Time, Fire, Water, and Health. Though these systems can possibly draw from the elements around them and manipulate them, a Fire Apprentice will be much more secure and strong when he looks within for his element. If a member of an Inner System draws from outside for too long, it is only a matter of time before that element consumes them.

Time -- Time is the bridge from now and then and even to the maybe. The power of Time comes from self determination and patience, for Time cannot be forced.
Fire -- Fire is the element of creation and destruction, the very embodiment of passion and stubbornness.
Water -- Water is the source of life of all living things. It is empathetic, trusting, and open to any, often serving some greater purpose put before it.
Health -- Health is the purity of the body and the movement that keeps the circle of life flowing. The inner light of this element is pure and true, for they can see all lies.


Outer Systems
The Outer Systems consist of Earth, Plant, Ice, and Wind. The systems are so influenced by their environment that self is often lost unless one truly looks within. Awareness is ever present for these people. While a Wind Consular may be determined to look within for power, he will never find the strength compared that that which has been given to him on the outer of his person.

Earth -- Earth is stability and solid ground for all. It is the foundation upon which all other elements evolved and the element that is the most simple and avoiding of unnecessary complexity. It is sure and unwaveringly loyal past all doubt.
Plant -- The plant life our are sisters and our brothers, the bond that pulls life together and the people that push for new growth but can never forget their roots and their past. Family is their driving force and their love their bond.
Ice -- None will ever know the true touch of ice other than those who have tried to pull this from within. It is the void of all emotion and the drive of pure instinct. It is primal and cruel, but has the ability to give the cool touch to make one forget all pain.
Wind -- Wind is the breath of the world. Upon this breath new tales are told and the old ones are never forgotten. They are the voice of tradition and culture -- politics and the untold voice.
