The Basics

Name: Gracie Anderson/Obsidian
Age: 23
Element: Fire
Classification: Citizen
Birth Kingdom: Ignis
Home Kingdom:

Appearance

Playby:
Appearance: Gracie/Obsidian is 5'5, but her small frame is incredibly deceiving. Since she was young she has trained in different styles of combat, causing her muscles to become dense and compacted, giving her a strong and sturdy body. Her eyes are blue as the oceans themselves. When Gracie is in control her eyes are soft, caring, and sincere. They give her a look of innocents. When Obsidian is in control her eyes change. Her gaze is cold and hard. The innocents that Gracie has is gone and is replaced by a aura of malice.

She wears a black cloak, compliments of Obsidian. For the first few months after she was free and she shared her life with Obsidian, she battled with what to wear. She liked brighter color clothing but when ever Obsidian gained control she would find some way to darken the clothing, or just replace it with a black outfit. Finally Gracie grew tired of replacing the clothing and just dealt with the black, though she would add color to her look by adding a flower or ribbon to her hair.

Personality

Personality: Gracie has two different personalities. She switches between the kind caring person Gracie is, and a cold, power hungry version of herself dubbed Obsidian. Even though she is Gracie more often then not, once she makes a switch she stays that way for about a day. On rare occasions the switch may only last a short while or it may last for extended periods, the longest being a week. They both want to gain permanent control and are continuously searching for ways to dispose of the other. They both despise each other and while they both know that the other exists they have no control on when they are present. They have different memories and though they can sometimes remember big things that happened while the other was present they don't generally know what the other does.

Triggering The Switch
The exact cause is unknown but it almost exclusively happens when Gracie is involved in a violent or up close and personal fight. It has happened a couple times at random moments, once while she was eating, but that is extremely rare and almost never happens. The switch from Gracie to Obsidian happens fairly quickly and unless you are looking for it you won't know it happened. Her eyes become glassy for a second or two and then Obsidian is there. Once Obsidian is out she is usually in control for a day or so. The switch back happens at completely random times and this is a little more noticeable. Usually Gracie will black out for a minute or two once she gains control of her body.

Obsidian
Obsidian is the dark personality Gracie embodies the majority of the time. The name itself is a metaphor for who she becomes. Like the stone she is hard, beautiful and sharp. She has almost no mercy and doesn't like excuses. If she asks for something to be done and the person doesn't meet her expectations it is very likely she will cut their throat. She likes to keep people around her guessing, wondering what she is going to do next. Especially men, she likes to flaunt her beauty to make them underestimate her so if the need arises she can easily dispatch them. Obsidian loves fighting above all things. She enjoys the power it brings her and loves watching the life flow from an opponents eye.

Obsidian in extremely cunning and intelligent. She is an excellent strategist and will use any advantage she can to win a fight. Though she loves fighting and hates most people she isn't stupid. She won't go around killing people just to do it. If someone is pissing her off and she is in a city or in an area where she would get in trouble for starting a fight she likely will leave before she does something stupid.

Obsidian despises Gracie. She thinks she is weak and hopes one day she will find a way to become the permanent host. After she achieves this she wants to rise to a seat of power in the world. A place where she controls the fate of many people, and she can use these people to do her bidding.

Gracie
When Gracie is herself she is kind and gentle. Though she still knows how to fight she isn't as skilled as Obsidian and she doesn't like it. Unlike Obsidian she doesn't flaunt her beauty, and actually she becomes self conscious about it. Gracie doesn't like being the center of attention and will do almost anything to get out of it. She is fairly optimistic and always looks at the brighter side of people and situations. Though she doesn't have any control over Obsidians actions, whenever she finds out what she did she feels awful about it. Every person Obsidian hurts Gracie feels sorry for.

Gracie is extremely intelligent and likes to learn. If there is an opportunity to learn a knew skill or learn more about something she is all for it. She hopes one day she will be able to find a cure for her problem and finally be in full control of herself.

Though she is extremely lonely, she hates getting close to people. When ever she finds someone she cares for Obsidian might either kill them or just leave them behind just to spite Gracie. Every time this hurts Gracie more so she made a vow to herself that she wouldn't care for another person until she figures out a way to rid herself of Obsidian.

Likes:

    Obsidians
  • Fighting - Fighting is one of the few things Persea enjoys. The beauty of swords clashing and elements flowing through the air has no rival to her. The excitement of killing your foe a split second before they deliver the same blow to you stirs a passion deep inside her that can only be sated with more violence.
  • The Road - The road is open and free. There she can do what she pleases and there isn't a specific set of rules she has to follow.

    Gracie
  • Children - Gracie loves kids. Her most valuable memories are from her childhood and being around the little ones helps her remember those
  • The Ocean - The vastness of the ocean and its never ending waves are beuitiful to Gracie. She loves sailing on it and hopes one day she can rid herself of Obsidian and move to a island where she can watch the ocean everyday

Dislikes:
Obsidian

  • Gracie - Obsidian hates her other half and is constantly searching for a way to make herself the permanent personality.
  • Laws - She hates not being able to do what she wants when she wants. Though they don't truly stop her from doing things like killing people, they are a hassle and something she has to deal with.

Gracie

  • Obsidian - Gracie doesn't like how cruel Obsidian is and she is constantly searching for a way to return herself to the full time personality
  • Having Friends - This may seem weird but Gracie hates getting close to people. If she is lucky enough to be in control long enough to make friends with a person and explain her situation, that person doesn't usually last to long around Obsidian. Sometimes just to piss Gracie off Obsidian will kill a person Persea liked, and this has become unbearable for Gracie.

Elemental Strengths
Obsidian
  • She is a very offensive fighter. She devotes almost all her time and practice into offensive style combat and so her attacks are more powerful than most fire citizens. She is extremely effective at close quarter, hand to hand combat. She knows how to use a blade but prefers her fists.
  • Fire Balls - She can throw five or six small fireballs before she starts to tire. The fire is extremely aggressive when it hits an object. After impact it will burn extremely hot for 3-5 seconds before dissipating.
  • Flaming Punches - As she reaches close quarters her combat style changes. She starts using her hand to hand combat skills and these include flaming punches. Just before she comes in contact with the person she lights her hand on fire to deal much more damage. Contact with bare skin will blister under contact.

Gracie

  • Gracie is the exact opposite of Obsidian. She likes to play a support role during fights. She prefers to sit back and use her abilities to protect people. She knows how to fight close quarters but only resorts to fighting as a last resort.
  • Fire Wall - To protect a comrade or escape from an enemy she can create a six foot wall of fire. It is more of a burst than a wall, only lasting about a second, but its main purpose is to slow an enemies advance.

Elemental Weaknesses
Obsidian
  • Anything defensive. She has never liked waiting for the other person to make the first move so she has never felt the need for a strong defense. She also tires quickly because she attacks with such ferocity.

Gracie

  • Offense - It is not because she isn't able to preform offensive attacks, but because she doesn't like hurting others that she chooses not to. She hates hurting people so unless it is a life and death situation she won't attack another person.

Background

Family:
Mother - Klaris Adonis (Maiden Name Naomi) Ice Consular Deceased
Father - Marcus Adonis Fire CitizenDeceased

History:
Gracie Anderson
Gracies father, a fishermen like the last three generations of his family, worked hard everyday to fend for his family. Though they were never rich, they never went without either. Her mother though, hadn't been living the quite life for as long has Marcus. During the war with Terra she was a part of the Ignis navy. Working primarily as a defensive fighter aboard the navy vessels, her job was to freeze over and seal any hole in the hull of the ship. Her and her two partners kept their ship afloat for the last three years of the war. After the war she met Marcus and settled down, having Gracie a year later.

Gracie grew up on the small Ignis island her father had lived on his whole life. Being an only child she was the center of her parents attention. The first ten years of her life she went to school and learned how to read and write. Once she reached ten her mother took Gracie out of school and started teaching her on her own. This included hand to hand combat. Her years in the military left Klaris suspicious that war was inevitable and she was determined to make Gracie ready for it. Everyday after she got done with her lesson, Gracie would have an hour of two of combat training. Slow and steadily her hands became weapons for her to use at her disposal.

Age 14 - Now at this point in her life Gracie was still innocent and naive. She didn't mind fighting and didn't really think about what an actual fight would be like. Her sparing sessions with her mother were fun and enjoyable. Sure she would get a bruise from time to time but mostly it was a game to her. Every session would be a new contest for her to try and beat her mother, though she hadn't come close yet. Now that she was older and gaining a little bit of skill with her element she would try and add it into the session. She was able to throw a fire ball or two and still be able to fight. Anytime she got close to hitting her mother though, she would find her feet frozen to the floor or a slick patch of ice would appear under her feet; stealing her balance.

Age 18 - When Gracie reached the age of 18 her days of fun and school came to an end. She now was old enough to go work on the boat with her dad. Both her and her mother started working with him and even though the work was hard she didn't mind it. Though she missed her daily sparring sessions, they had been reduced to two days a week, she found new enjoyment in the ocean. When she got to land she found herself longing to take the boat back out onto the waves. When out fishing she would sometimes get lost in thought while starring out into the blue abyss.

Age 20 - This would be the worst year of Gracies life. It started on a fair day, the sea was calm, the sun high, and a cool breeze blew across the water. She and her parents had just pulled in a net when they spotted the black sails on the horizon. Two pirate vessels were closing in fast and the little fishing boat had no chance to out run them. Now Klaris was no amateur fighter but two pirate ships was a lot to handle. With only herself, Gracie, Marcus, and three other crew members a clean escaped looked bleak.

Never the less, as the boats grew closer the fisherment raised arms. Klaris was the strongest fighter but one of the other crewmen was classified as an apprentice with his fire element, and Marcus was no chump with his bow and arrow. The lead ship closed in and the fisherman hit it with a fierce barrage. Klaris drew two huge ice spears out of the water and into the ship. The fisherman who had some talent with his element, John, threw three large fireballs at the mast during Klaris's attack. The Pirates were ready though. Immediately after the ice hit the boat it melted and a wall of ice covered the wholes, a man from the boat obviously possessing some skill with his talent. As the sails went up in flame water came out of the ocean to douse the flames. As his wife attacked Marcus grabbed Gracie and pulled her below deck, hiding her.

At this point the second boat was in range and two bright, dense balls of flame flew off the deck and hit two of the other crewmen on Marcus's boat, burning both the men. A volley of arrows followed and Klaris threw up a layer of ice above the deck. Again Klaris and John attacked the boats, this time aiming for sailers. Three of them were hit but the wounds were not fatal. John was nearing his limit and Klaris was starting to tire too. Marcus climbed back onto the deck and caught Klaris's gaze; his look was grim as he drew his sword, the pirates throwing out planks to board. Even out numbered Marcus, Klaris, and John charged in. Marcus swung a powerful two handed chop at the leading pirate knocking him from the plank. The second paid the first no heed and stepped forward to engage Marcus.

Mean while at the other plank a man had engaged John, pushing him away from the front of the plank to allow the other four men behind him to board. Just as Klaris was about to hid the men with a volley of ice spears a huge gust of wind blasted her from her feet. As she hit the deck she looked up to see a man jump the gap between the ships. Just before he plunged into the water torrents of wind caught him, carrying him to the boat. Klaris, tired and hurting, knew she was out matched. Still she pushed herself to her feet, determined to make the man earn her defeat. The man wasted no time attacking as he blew another huge gust at her. Prepared this time she brought up a wall of ice to block the wind. As it died down she turned the wall into a weapon launching it at the man. At the same time she created an ice spear, throwing it to follow behind the wall where he couldn't see it.

Marcus finally dispatched the man but two more took his place and Marcus was tired. He held off the attacks for a minute or two before one of them hamstrung him, dropping him to the deck. John, seeing his friend go down let forth an attack out of pure rage. A blast of fire purst from his hands blowing two of the men attacking him from their feet. Just as he turned to run over to Marcus's aid he felt a sting in his back. Slowly it got warmer and warmer until it burned like the sun. He didn't understand what was happening until his legs gave out. A man behind the blast of fire pulled his sword from John and went over to help the other men shackle Marcus.

The man fighting Klaris blasted the wall away from him but the spear struck true, hitting him in the hip. He fell to the ground grabbing the spear. This wasn't his first fight though and as Klaris was about to attack again he sent another gust of wind. It only partially hit Klaris but it still dazed her, long enough for the other Pirates to close in. Knowing she couldn't take the four of them Klaris dropped her fighting stance, allowing them to bind her. They threw her down by her husband, who a healer was working on to keep him from bleeding out. They didn't exchange words, they just looked into the others eye with hopelessness.

The pirates searched the ship for any loot they could find. Being a fishing vessel there wasn't much on board, except for Gracie. When a pirate found her he was more than happy. He pulled her to the deck and brought her to the captain. The captain was pleased, she would fetch a good price, and his last few nights at sea would be enjoyable. He told the men to bring her to his quarters and to take the others below deck.

Later that night the captain went to his room to seize his prize. Gracie hadn't been idle this whole time though. She used the time to collect herself and to start thinking about what she was going to do. When the captain arrived she was ready. When he went for her she hit him right in the side of the face. Liking her fire he came back at her with a grin. He bore her down on his bed and she squirmed trying to get her arms between him and her face. He leaned down to give her a kiss and she got her hand on his face. Yelling for him to get off her she covered her hand with fire. He yelled as he leaped off her clutching his blistering face. Guards rushed in and restrained Gracie while the healer went to see what he could do. They took Gracie below deck for the rest of the journey.

When they got to the slave auction they told the prisoners to exit the cell but as Gracie went leave they stopped her. They told her the captain had a special punishment for her. Later that same day they took her from the cell and pushed her through a door into a small walled in room with seats above the wall. The seats were full of people and another person was in the arena, a man about 17 years old. Her captain was sitting right behind her, his face bandaged. He smirked as a man walked up to a podium. The man shouted that they were done taking bets and the fight was about to start. A few seconds later a bell was rung and the boy on the other side of the roofless room charged at her, letting out a primal yell. She realized that this wasn't a room, but an arena.

The boy dived through the air, hoping to pin her down. Gracie was to light on her feet though. She step sided and he hit the ground but was up in a moment. She yelled at him to stop and to be reasonable but on he came. She tried to dodge but a few dives later he almost got a hold of her and knocked her off balance. As she regained it he readied for another attack. She came to realize she would have to fight. When he jumped this time she delivered a kick strait to his face, shattering his nose. He still drove at her and she riddled his body with hit after hit. After many hits he finally fell to the ground bloodied and bruised. The crowed cheered and yelled for her to finish him as a knife was tossed into the arena. She refused and backed away from the knife and eventually two men entered the arena and took them both away.

Later that night she was brought to a room where the pirate captain was sitting. He told her how much money he was deducted because she didn't complete the show. He then clapped his hand and the boy was brought in. The captain ordered a man to give her a knife. Again she refused and when the captain clapped two men grabbed her and put the knife in her hand. They then forced her to stab the kid repeatedly in the stomach, so she could watch the life slowly fade from his eyes. After the boy died she was taken back to her cell. She cried herself to sleep that night, and when the morning came so did another fight. Again she won, and again she didn't kill the opponent. The same punishment followed that night, except this time she was beaten afterwards. The captain told her one more time and she would die a slow painful death.

Gracie cried the whole night, conflicted on what to do. Killing someone was unthinkable, but dying was just as bad. That night something happened in Gracies ming, a defense mechanism of sort. She became what she had to in order to survive. When the the fight came she didn't dodge around like before, she attacked with ferocity and anger, and when the knife came she buried it in the kids chest. When the captain called her in that night his face was lit up and he was clapping. 'Well done Gracie!' he said in a happy voice. The response he received wasn't what he expected. The weak scared voice of Gracie was gone, replaced by a stern cold tone.

The soldiers took her back to the cell and when she finally was alone she changed back to Gracie. She was immediately confused on where she was and what had happened. A guard came and brought her food, this man was her favorite because he wasn't a complete ass, and she asked her what happened. He looked at her confused and told her she just got done with a fight. Gracie was taken off guard by this, she had lost a whole days worth of memory!

Gracie stayed herself for the next week, she didn't have a fight then, but the moment she entered the arena during the next fight Obsidian took over. Now she wasn't called Obsidian yet, thats the name the guards and crowd gave her later, but the being that is Obsidian was. The days continued like this, when ever a fight occurred Obsidian would show up and usually later that night Gracie would awaken dazed and confused. Slowly the switch back from Obsidian to Gracie took longer, but never more than a day or two.

Age 20
Two years after being caught Gracie caught a lucky break. The guard she liked slowly started getting more relaxed around her, and when ever Obsidian was in control she took note of this. One day when the guard came with food Obsidian acted as innocent as she could. She got close to the bars and thanked the man for his kindness to her. The man looked a little confused as he got close enough to hand her the food. Suddenly Obsidian grabbed his wrist, pulled him in, grabbed his neck, and covered her hand in fire as she choked him. Her grasp kept him from making noise and the fire killed him quickly. She took his keys and unlocked the cell, only pausing long enough to take the dagger from his belt. As she ran through the halls she made her way to the captains room.

The two guards out side were talking to each other when Obsidian attacked. The Knife caught one in the throat and she delivered a few quick jabs to the others throat and face, dropping him to the floor. She pulled the knife from the guards throat and entered the room. The captain was sleeping and she pushed the knife against his throat. He opened his eyes and she hesitated just long enough for him to see her face before she cut it. Quickly she grabbed a pouch of money from a table in the room and fled. She escaped the compound and didn't stop running for a hour. Finally she settled down in a small wooded grove. When she woke she was no longer Obsidian, and gracie not knowing how she escaped, looked around in awe. This was the only time she ever thanked her other half. She made her way to a small village and purchased some cloths and a cloak. Knowing her other half could be dangerous to the people here she kept moving and stuck to the roads.

Age 21-Present
During these years she tried to stay as isolated as possible. Still certain situations brought her in contact with people, and inevitably Obsidian showed herself. One occasion a bandit tried to rob Gracie and Obsidian took control, killing the man in a few seconds. These out burst only made Gracie redouble her effort to stay away from cities. Now she travels the road, hoping to find a cure to her condition, hoping to be normal.

OOC

RP Sample: Ilero sighed as he tightened his Neko-te's (Metal claws) to his hands, the man he had came here for just strolling into the house. Some people just couldn't understand the ways of society. It really wasn't that hard to understand, even the homeless living on the streets followed the same basic rule. Don't piss of people you can't control, and apparently this man did that quite too often.

Getting into the house hadn't been a problem, donning some servants cloths and not talking to anyone had been way to easy. The hard part was going to be getting out after the kill. The man always slept with two men guarding the door, with a third patrolling back and forth between them and the guards on the first floor. He would have about forty seconds to kill the two doormen, rush in kill the man, and escape before back up arrived. Ilero liked the odds.

Moments later the patrolling guard disappeared around the corner and Ilero started to move. 'One. Two. Three. Four.' Ilero counted the seconds well dropping down from the rafters. As he landed he caught both the guards by the throats with his Neko-te's and tore them out, leaving the men dead in seconds. 'Twelve Thirteen. Fourteen.' Moving quickly he picked the doors lock and hurried into the room. 'Twenty-five. Twenty-six.' He ran to the bed slashing the mans throat with a knife, just taking long enough to leave the note the contract told him to leave. 'Thirty. Thirty-one.'

He was gonna make it, or so he thought when a side door in the room opened and the wife let out a horrific scream. 'Dammit. I should have seen her come in!' he silently scolded himself. Not wasting any time he launched a throwing knife deep into her chest. It was too late the, the guards had heard her scream and they were cresting the top step as he exited the room.

Cursing his bad luck he pulled his Glestil Hand and a Half sword from his back. The first man he met was the patrolling officer. The man thrust a spear right at Ileros chest, but the attack seemed slow motion to Ilero. As he pushed aside the spear with his sword he pulled a dart from his side and jabbed it into the back of the mans neck as he leaped past him. The dart, covered in a very strong poison, sent the man into violent shakes almost immediately. In seconds he was dead.

Not slowing from the first kill Ilero engaged the next two guards as he pulled a large dagger from its sheath. The men attacked as a pair, working both of Ileros sides, they were trained well, but not well enough. After only thirty seconds one missed a block, resulting in his death. Without his partner there to help him the other was over powered in seconds, though that didn't matter because immediately more guards were coming up the stairs. There was no way he could keep this up for much longer. Quickly he pulled a sack from his back, pulled the draw string and threw it into the air, releasing a purplish powder, Yelton seed. Breathing in the powder would cause the lungs to hemorrhage, kill a man in minutes.

Well the powder lingered in the air Ilero sprinted for the window at the end of the hall, crashing through it. He landed in a tight role bruising his shoulder and possible breaking a rib or two, but for now that didn't matter. The powder had settled and the guards had made it to the window, yelling for others to stop the assassin. One guard managed to intercept Ilero as he reached the top of the wall, but he died moments later.

"I made it" breathed Ilero as he hopped over the walls edge, into the shadows, his home. Just as he was disappearing over the wall though he felt as if a thousand hornets were stinging his shoulder. He landed on the ground and stood in a daze as he reached over his shoulder, feeling a large rod protruding from his back. "What the hell?" he barley said as he collapsed, the crossbow bolt piercing his lung. 'This is so embarrassing... me, a renowned assassin being killed by a rouge bolt, what is gonna happen to my reputation?' The same thoughts raced through his mind over and over as he sat there coughing up his life blood, the same thoughts were in his mind as the world went black, those same thoughts were his last..

Petition: Character
Petitioning: Dual Personalities
Central to the Character: Having the two different personalities basically is the entire make up to the character. Without it the character would be played 100% different.
Central to Plot Development:: I am not 100% sure on what her role will be yet but as I start RPing I will figure it out. This being my first character I am not involved in the story yet.
