Haruna is a Wind Apprentice with a very strong Elementalist belief system and a history as a guerrilla fighter during the Ignis-Terran war on the side of the Terrans. Much of her young-adult life has been spent planning ways to undermine soldiers encroachments on northern Terran villages, though in the last year, now that the war is over, she has been seeking to right the wrongs left in the wake of the Ignis withdrawal. She's a hard young woman and most would see her as a poster child for how war-embittered Terrans have been coping with their lot in life.
She is a creature of contradictions at the moment: she has strong pacifist values and a strict moral code, but she's fallen well below the mark in her past. She is afraid to make connections with strangers but she has a srong urge to build community and uphold fairness. Haruna hates to fight but is so soured that usually people's first impressions of her are those of a combative elitist. She has no respect for smooth-talkers, misogynists, privileged visitors to her war-torn land, et all, so to outsiders, she can seem especially prickly.
Haruna is living nomadically at the moment, traveling around northern Terra on horse-back and living for a few weeks at a time in different villages. She has little worth to her name, and few connections, but she knows the land very well and is respected for her work in the villages.
Potential for Friends
Haruna respects a hard worker. She respects her elders and those who have better control of their elements. Anyone who does not condescend to her can pretty well win over her appreciation, though actions speak louder than words: if one were to spend some time in the field or on the hunt with Haruna, she'd appreciate them a whole lot more. She has few friends at the moment, and takes time to warm to a person, but she is so starved for company that right now she may ignore inner warning signals for the chance to travel with another.
Potential for Family
Haruna was an orphan, raised in an Elementalist Temple on the land-bridge city of Haikar before it (and the surrounding landscape!) was scorched to a crisp in the military action that decisively ended the war. Her mothers were respected users of Earth and Health, though any Elemental control was accepted to the Temple. Haruna was surrounded by adoptive siblings, most of which are completely up in the air right now. She would consider anybody from any of the Temples across Terra to be like family, so any character with Temple-ties or Elementalist leanings has a good chance of getting in to her good books.
Potential for Lovers
Though she's already seventeen, Haruna hasn't had a romantic relationship yet, let alone sex. She believes that one has to come before the other, but she is so anxious about forming real attachments that the thought of forging a relationship with anyone like this makes her deeply uncomfortable. She isn't consciously aware of what it feels like to be sexually attracted to anyone, having suppressed such feelings in the past. She is likely to confuse these feelings for a friendship-gone-wrong or a distressing artifact of the war if they're particularly passionate.
Potential for Enemies
Haruna dislikes physical fighting, but that doesn't mean that she won't debate someone. She thinks she is more accomplished than she is, often relying on emotion and experience to back up her claims. She has a lot to learn on that front. While she likely won't make true enemies, it's quite forseeable that she would make rivals. Haruna has had more than enough of seeing people as her enemies, so while she runs towards paranoid, she doesn't like feeling that way.
Other Potential Relationships of Interest
Haruna could use some mentors for a number of reasons. She needs practice with her elemental control, with finding a balance between the extremes of her intellectual and emotional states of being, and with living at peace.
She also has an intimate knowledge of the byways of northern Terra. If one were to be searching for the relic, one might use Haruna as a guide.
Haruna has a strong spiritual aspect. If one wanted to bounce off of her Elementalist belief system, one could counter it with Creationist theology or atheist pragmatism -- of course, Haruna would be quite pleased if asked to share her Temple's teachings. There's much that has been lost that she would like to one day replace.
