The Basics

Name: Leslie “Les” Worthington
Alias: The Great Lucio Romano; The Majestic Man of Mystery; The Veiled Varietist of Valetudo; Any other cockamamie names that mean the same damn thing but sound special.
Age: 41
Element: Time
Classification: Grand Master
Birth Kingdom: Ignis
Home Kingdom: Valetudo

Appearance

Playby: David Tennant
Appearance: Les requires two appearances—one of deception, and one of reality.

His deceptive personality—known as The Great Lucio Romano—is a mysterious looking man, full of mystery on top of more mystery. Standing a little taller than most men, Lucio is a little above six feet tall. Wearing only the finest black leather pressed against his skin like it was his own, he flaunts his taut little toosh when he pivots, giving the ladies something to collapse over. While Lucio Romano is not muscular, his body seems to be not too thin and not too fat to pull off the leather garments quite well. Long, well cared for black locks adorn the top of his head, along with a well manicured goatee. In contrast to his blackened hair and his darkened eyes, his skin is slightly pale, making him seem even more mysterious! As if he’s been to the other side…

But once The Great Lucio Romano is done with fannying around, Leslie Worthington slumps down into his overly large chair in his quarters behind the show house. Tugging off his boots, Les’s height drops about two to three inches, being just under six feet tall when wearing normal boots—a few extra inches makes all the difference, gents. Removing the wig from his head, one will see slightly spiked up brown hair that’s been slicked back for the headpiece. As some cursing ensues, Les will also remove the facial hair that some John Thomas (means dick) used too much adhesive on, revealing a very light scruff from his natural beard (he never enjoyed growing his facial hair out--it itched like crazy). Scrubbing his face with a damp towel, the pale makeup smears off, exposing his true skin tone, which is slightly tan, matching that of your average Ignisian. And if he didn’t think he looked sexy in his leather pants, he’d take those off and replace them with something more comfortable—damn things overheat the plums and make them squish together.

Personality

Personality: Depending upon the audience, Les can show two different personalities. The first personality is his stage persona as The Great Lucio Romano, a magician of the highest caliber. Charming, smooth and speaking as if he were an aristocrat of sorts, this personality is a front for earning more coin for being likable. Les doesn’t use this personality unless for a show or to get out of a tight place because it requires too much effort to be a snobbish, stuffed-shirt prick. But when people come to see his show, he makes sure that they feel welcomed, entertained, and satisfied for paying the coin they did.

Les’s true personality, however, is very different. For starters, he discards the pleasantries, regardless of the company—sometimes his leather pants become pressed against his crotch and he simply needs to give his change purse a good tugging before it becomes permanently plastered to his thigh. When he speaks, his accent seems to be less classy, more of how a poor person would speak than a noble—which may not even matter from all of the cursing that comes rolling off his tongue. A sarcastic pervert that enjoys amassing coin so that he can either keep it for himself or blow it on women, booze, and gambling. That’s the sum of Les’s true persona. He’s not a bad person really—he does have his moments where he treats others with respect—but most of the time he simply makes really bad choices.

The problem with these two personalities is that he tries not to mingle them--gives away the mystery and all that from Lucio Romano. If Les invites people backstage or into his dressing room that he does not know--which is usually for some extra coin or for a really good romp--he'll keep the persona of Lucio so as not to alert his paying customers that he's really a douchebag. Some of the frequent female company that he keeps know his little ruse and don't really care, which is how Les likes it--he gets to have women under his arms while acting like his true self. He knows that he's not fooling everyone with his hair and makeup--but he's fooling some of them, which usually means repeat customers with new coin.

And yet below the performance persona and the douchebaggery lies another, deeper level of his personality that no one is allowed to see—sometimes not even himself. Torture and suffering for the death of his wife exist in this place—a place that he coats with a heavy layer of highly flammable alcohol. In a weird way, Les's buying expensive things, sleeping with harems of women, drinking himself stupid and having an alter ego for his magic show all stem from the guilt of not being able to do more for his wife. The money, the women, the drinking, and the veil of another persona is something of a way to protect himself from ever falling in love with anyone like he did with his wife. Any sort of strong connection that could be severed like his relationship with his wife would be too much to bear. So Les keeps everyone at arm's length and continues to do what he's good at.

And as if his own attempts to section him off from any substantial human contact weren't enough, Les is well aware of his abilities with the Time element--so much so that he's had to either downplay his own abilities or simply avoid any unwanted attention, which sometimes meant staying off the radar, so-to-speak. Perhaps the only people Les could truly be comfortable with are those who understand his predicament--those with powers far beyond most. Only those with great power can understand that it's not all it's cracked up to be. Someone may wish for the abilities that Les possesses, but the only reason why Les would never give his element up is because he is able to speak to his wife.

Likes:

  • Alcohol – Good for repressing memories and lowering inhibitions, Les could not have survived certain situations without it. He usually enjoys smaller amounts at higher concentrations because if not, then he gets grouchy about having the need to empty his bladder every 15 minutes.
  • Cursing – Les can’t go two seconds without saying something that sounds like he’s cursing something or someone out. He enjoys his dirty mouth and the dirty mouths of others.
  • Money and Monetary Possessions – Les measures how well he is doing in life by how much coin he can bring in and how many expensive things he owns. He enjoys flaunting his wealthy by buying large, ornate thingies--he calls them thingies sometimes because he doesn't know what they are but they were expensive--and placing them all over his dressing room and his place.
    • Artifacts - Some of these monetary possessions are rare artifacts that he's been able to buy--either on the cheap or for a pretty chunk of change--that he knows to be old and authentic. He likes to boast to others about his collection just to make himself feel like the prettiest girl at the dance. The type of artifact isn't necessarily important--so long as its old and authentic usually--but a good story to go along with a new toy is always exciting.

  • Sassy Women – Something about a woman with a strong personality gets Les all excited. Sometimes the sassiness is depressing because it too closely resembles his wife's attitude, and other times the woman is just crazy enough to be extraordinarily mind-bending in bed. Depends on the woman and the night.
  • Sarcasm – Sometimes he sounds as though he’s being mean to someone, but that’s just his way of conversing. Most people take him the wrong way and become offended, and if that happens, Les doesn’t attempt to apologize—in fact, he might make fun of them for being such softies. Finding someone who can give it back to Les as well as he can give it is rare and enjoyable.
  • Flirting – Mostly with women, but Les isn't above grabbing a man's ass or kissing him on the lips. He's not going to be sleeping with a man anytime soon, however--he just has a limited sense of personal space. Especially when he's drinking. Which is most of the time.

Dislikes:

  • Alcohol – Les isn’t a huge fan of hangovers, and sometimes when he drinks, he gets painfully honest. No likey.
  • Authorities – Whether they be the authorities or the ones claiming to be the authority. It's not that Les is doing things that he shouldn't be doing but he simply has a natural distrust for authoritative figures. They can all piss off. Unless of course they're offering coin--they can give it up then piss off.
  • Guilt – Les has a conscience but he’d like to not be reminded of it. Anything that tugs at his short heart strings gets under his skin. It's a dislike in the sense that it makes him feel like the person he used to be with his wife, which is sometimes too painful to deal with.
  • Fighting – Despite Les being able to control time, he's not much of a fighter--like, at all. When faced with getting his rear kicked hard, he's more likely to run the hell out of the situation. He's a bit of a coward in that respect. Unless of course something meaningful enough is on the line.
  • Eternally Happy People – Don’t you just hate that one person that can’t be unhappy? You’re feeling like total and complete shite because you’re throwing up over an obscene amount of alcohol consumption and this one over here can’t stop talking about how great it is to be alive? Although secretly he envies these types of people.
  • Tightasses – Simply because they’re no fun.
  • Extremists – Crazy behavior is never something that Les enjoys. He’s known a few women who have been a little past obsessed—one of them almost tried to keep a fleshy souvenir if you know what I mean—so he’s not inclined to enjoy that sort of company. Also extremists are always so damn narrow-minded.

Elemental Strengths
  • Using his abilities with the Time element, Les is able to temporally displace a personality from a previous timeline into the current one. In short, he can speak to dead people when they were alive. These people don’t necessarily have to be dead—he can speak to a person that is alive today, but at a point where the person might be different as events have yet to shape their thoughts. Having an item of the person he is speaking to--one with sentimental attachment--makes the communication that much easier because the item acts as a strengthening medium between the past and present.

    • The process of temporal displacement can be applied to items as well, like who owned the item, how long they owned the item, etc. It works very similar to how Les would communicate with a personality, except he's only viewing those personalities that have rubbed off onto the item.

  • Les can alter a person's timeline as well, which indirectly affects a person's memories. By editing events that happened in time, he can remove them from a single person, as if the event never happened to that individual.

  • Les is also able to perceive multiple timelines for a single person from choices they did not make. For instance, if someone decided to marry the love of his or her life instead of joining the military, Les would see the person as they are now with one eye while his other eye would perceive that person as a military officer, possibly high decorated and either happy or sad. This ability works as an odd way of gauging a person's true self. Perhaps Les might see a struggling businessman on one hand, but on another, he sees a timeline where this man enslaves others somehow. In essence, these major timelines show Les what sort of person someone could have become given the right or wrong life choices.

Elemental Weaknesses
  • A few problems arise with performing such a technique as temporally displacing a personality.
    • Focus – Les must place himself into a meditative state to begin speaking to someone from the past. It requires sharp concentration which is, at the very least, annoying.
    • Time frame - The first issue is how far back he must go in time—how long ago must he go to speak to the person? It is obviously much easier to speak with someone that has been recently dead versus someone who has been dead for hundreds of years.
    • Distance - The next problem is distance—while Les can bridge the gap between timelines, he cannot manipulate the space between where the personality was and where he currently is. That is to say, if Les attempts to tap into a personality that was within his general vicinity at the time, it would be much easier to contact them. If the person was hundreds of miles away? Extremely difficult.
    • Consent – The last problem is that the person Les is contacting must allow Les to speak with him. Much like a phone conversation, if the other doesn’t want to pick up or stops the call, the conversation is over. Les can only dial the number, so-to-speak—he can’t answer the call himself.
    • Permanence – Speaking to someone in the past—dead or alive—does not change the present. Whatever has happened stays that way, and the person contacted continues his or her life without knowledge of the connection being made. Theoretically there is a way to change the past, but Les is either unaware of how or is unwilling.

  • As with the temporal displacement drawbacks, seeing the history of an item also has its own problems.
    • Focus – Just like for speaking to past personalities, this process still requires a great deal of concentration on Les’s behalf.
    • Distance While the distance of the object is not a factor (Les will require the object in his hand), the distance it has traveled will still be an issue.
    • Time frame – The biggest issue with seeing the past of an object is the time frame--so many different, specific time frames could exist for an object depending on how specific the client's request is. If the client knew there was only one owner and wanted to know that owner? Easy enough. If the item had several owners and wanted to know each and every owner? That's like fast-forwarding x16 on a DVD that has years of play black.

  • In terms of dating people and items, anything that's recently new--a baby or a recently crafted item--Les isn't going to be able to date due to the small amount of time it would require. Anything older? An artifact perhaps or an older man? It becomes far easier to date. All this technique requires is concentration and touching the object or person.

  • Altering a person's timeline comes with its own quirks, like having to work with other specialists to perform such a feat.
    • Focus – Much like temporally displacing a personality, Les requires something of a meditative state to perform this technique.
    • Time frame - The time frame of what events to alter surrounding the individual can be quite a troublesome thing depending on what needs to be done. A very specific event in a person's life that lasted maybe a few weeks? That's going to be a bit of a bitch. Something more general and over the span of a few years? Easier to locate and remove.
    • Permanence - The problem with altering one's timeline is that you do not alter the world's timeline, but the timeline of a single individual. This presents a problem because those events can never be erased from the individual's experiences entirely. Think of altering one's timeline as putting up large walls--you claw at them long enough and they'll give. That and people have a way of being curious enough to undo what was done to them without knowing the destruction they would cause. Some timelines could take years to return to normal through constant internal struggle while others might take months--it all depends on the person's willpower and curiosity.
    • Tag Team – Another issue with altering someone's timeline is that someone wielding the Health element with a classification of Consular or higher is required to perform services. More specifically, the Health user would put the individual into an unconscious state, similar to using anesthesia. In this state, the user's mind will more readily accept an alteration to his or her timeline without any interruptions from the individual himself or herself. If you'd believe it, not many Health users would participate in such shady operations...

  • Seeing the timelines of others comes with its own set of drawbacks as well.

    • Focus - Yes yes, we've covered this one already.
    • Major Life Choices - Viewing someone as they might have been cannot be something that the person did to minimally change their time line--perhaps some facial hair or eating more protein--it must be something significant. There are so many time lines that can branch from a single person so the change in life must have been dramatic for Les to see it clearly.
    • Multiple Timelines - While it is possible for Les to view multiple timelines for a single person--so long as the life change is major enough--it requires more effort to do so, which Les usually isn't up for unless he has to or is forced to.

  • While Les might be able to do some fantastic things with his element, he chooses not to screw with it too much. Time isn’t like conjuring up some fire and burning something—it can have devastating ripple effects that might not be seen immediately. He has a healthy fear of his own element. Besides, if everyone knew his abilities, his life might become more complicated--and that would be a pain.

  • Given that Les is only quite versed in temporally displacing personalities due to his extensive practice at it, it would only make sense that every other ability that may come naturally to one wields Time does not come as naturally to Les. Apart from a healthy fear of his own element, he simply hasn't practiced things like freezing the present--anything from this realm is going to be a bit more difficult for him.

Background

Family:
Wife – Emily Worthington, Fire Apprentice
Mother – Fionna Worthington, Water Apprentice
Father – Charles Worthington, Wind Apprentice
Siblings - None

History: Leslie Oliver Worthington was born into a family where wealth and nobility were everything. With a large estate on extremely fertile land, the Worthingtons grew only the most succulent and sizable crops. Generations of farmers had toiled the land but only recently have the Worthingtons amassed enough wealth where none of them had to labor in the fields again. And so Les was born into an environment where everything came easy and hard work was something only the servants did. Responsibilities were still to be tended to and obligations were required to be completed as a family of nobility would do.

And yet Les never seemed to fit into the world he was born into. While his private teachers caught him how to speak in a proper manner, his accent remained—to this day—a version of Caristian that one would hear from poorer folk. He shirked responsibilities, threw tantrums, and made it a point to misbehave at every turn. He even became exceptionally good at pickpocketing, despite stealing from his own family. Les’s father and mother would put their foot down when Les acted out of line, and the boy would merely step on that foot and run circles around them. Had it not been for the elemental affinity he was born with, the Worthington’s might have attempted at breeding another, more proper child.

But Les realized at an early age that he could manipulate the Time element, which made him nearly invaluable as an heir to the Worthington estate. Although Les’s element was not what his parents were expecting. When he was just a boy, Les would claim to be visited by a ghost when he slept—a man that looked like his great-grandfather from one of the family paintings. Believing the boy to have some sort of fever, his father and mother took interest in Les when he started saying things that only an older family member would know—things that would be impossible for Les to pick up on his own. It seemed that somehow, while unconscious, Les was able to naturally tap into the past and speak to people as if he was dreaming. As he became older, he found the focus necessary to connect with personalities of the past, but as a boy, he had to be asleep and in a deep sleep to access this power.

The nobility that the Worthingtons had earned was from money, but what the family really wanted was respect and power. A time user was something very rare indeed and could be the key to the family’s success. The problem was Les knew this; he knew that he was invaluable and was therefore untouchable, which only played into his impish nature. He would even leave the estate every now and again just to piss his parents off. And that’s where he met Charlotte.

Charlotte was from a poorer village that was near the Worthington estate. A thick row of trees created a natural barrier but somehow both Charlotte and Les met one day—for very different reasons. Les had escaped his servant’s watchful eyes once again and decided to go play in the trees, throwing around sticks and whatnot. Charlotte—or Charlie, as she enjoyed being called, much to the dismay of her parents—was looking for specific types of wood pieces for her father as he was a carpenter and in need of a specific type of wood.

Both Les and Charlie were teens at the time, and upon seeing Charlie, Les declared the woods to be his and forbade her from taking anything. To which Charlie continued to pick up sticks, ignoring Les. With words leading to actions, Charlie eventually defended herself by tackling Les and knocking the stick out of his hand that he was going to hit her with. It was the first time that someone had ever physically assaulted Les because everyone else that he knew would never attempt to hurt him. It was an interesting experience because while he laid on his back with the wind knocked out of him, he peered up at this girl—as if for a brief moment, time had stopped. He thought initially that he had activated his element somehow, but as the light trickled down through the thin canopy and grazed Charlie’s facial features, Les realized something. Charlie was beautiful. Dark hair, pale, milky skin, and plump lips underneath the dirt that was caked all over.

The altercation led to a friendship that started on a lie—Les was too afraid to tell Charlie that his father owned the land that she was taking wood from. Every time he went to see her, he tried to tear holes in his clothes and use his poor accent all while rubbing dirt on his face. The two began meeting regularly until Les’s father realized something out of the boy’s ordinary behavior was afoot. Having a servant follow him secretively, his father appeared one day, knowing Les’s and Charlie’s exact meeting location. Questioning Les angrily, he threatened to have Charlie arrested for trespassing. And then Les did something that stunned his father—he stood up for Charlie. Defended her. Les had yelled at his father before, but never in such a sharp and threatening tone. Les’s father realized that he cared for this girl, which was something he could not allow; Charlie was not of noble birth and she didn’t look like her family had much money either.

Charlie did not believe what she had heard at first—that Les was Leslie Oliver Worthington of the Worthington estate. She always assumed he came from somewhere near her village with the way he dressed and how he spoke. Les explained to Charlie that the only reason why he did all those things was because he didn’t want her to think less of him. Feeling betrayed, Charlie left and said that she needed time to think and that she would come back to their spot next week to talk.

Les and his father met later at the estate, and an ultimatum was laid out—if Les continued to see Charlie, he would be cut off from his inheritance. That meant no fine dining, no servants, no large house, no nothing. Cut off. Completely. To be honest, Les had never though his father would take such a route, and as he began thinking about how hard life would be without money, he decided that it would be in his best interest to stop seeing Charlie and hold onto the money. When Les and Charlie met next, he was dressed like a wealthy individual with a beautiful white horse covered in fabric finer than what Charlie was wearing. He explained the situation, to which Charlie was in disbelief—Les was taking the money over her? For a while now, Charlie thought her and Les were together and was hoping he would make a move eventually, but this was even more of a betrayal than when she found out Les was not who he said he was. She fought tears, cursed him out, then slapped his face before storming off.

As Les trudged back to the estate, he realized something—the pain of losing his inheritance hurt so much less than the pain that he was feeling in his heart. He had not used his heart for much up until this reason and he just wanted the pain to go away already. A few weeks of feeling this way and Les knew that he had to do something. Planting the seed into his own mind, Les began to realize that he really did love Charlie—so much that all of the money in the world wasn’t going to make him as happy as she did. So what if Les lost his inheritance? His happiness was a far greater treasure to have. That didn’t mean that he couldn’t take a bunch of expensive crap that his parents had given him for his birthdays to convert into a hefty amount of coin.

When Les found Charlie, he had found out that her father had promised her hand to an older gentleman with a decent amount of money. Les had never felt this type of jealousy before. Sure, he was jealous when he saw something that someone had that he wanted, but this was a different feeling. Something that made run into the marriage ceremony screaming Charlie’s name. It was there that he begged her not to do this, but to instead run away with him. The crowd became restless and people began drowning Les out, to which he yelled that he loved Charlie very loudly. Everyone became silent. Charlie’s eyes were wide. The man Charlie was promised to was fuming.

More silence. Moments passed where no one said anything. And then Charlie slowly started walking toward Les, cursing and swinging her hands around, saying that he was spoiling her day. The cursing was followed by a slap in the face, but what Les didn’t expect was the powerful kiss right after the slap. And that settled it. Les and Charlie eventually traveled to Unda on the coin that Les had gathered by selling his possessions, starting a new life as a married couple. Young adults in love.

Living in the more southern region of the isles, Unda was beautiful—almost like a honeymoon for the two love birds. Their marriage was perfect and both Les and Charlie were content and happy. They talked about raising their own family and how they wanted to continue living in this gorgeous tropical area. While Charlie could find work immediately—being trained by her father as a crafter of wood—Les vowed to learn a craft to support his family.

And yet Les could never fully fit into the working world. Being a spoiled brat, he had never acquired any skills for a trade and hard work was something that was something he had never experienced. He was happy with Charlie, but he never realized how well he had it with his family’s money. Eventually Les began getting fired from jobs because of his incompetence, to which Charlie had to pick up more than one job to support them. Les even fell into a life of crime, picking up odd jobs here and there and even resorting to stealing and pickpocketing—something he was good at as a child.

Charlie found out about his illegal activities, however, and banned her husband from doing them. Les became so depressed because he was upset at himself for not being able to provide for his family with a decent job that he picked up drinking, which only wasted more money. While Les drank, it strained the marriage because he would be picking fights with his loose comments and Charlie would be tired from working 20 hours in a row.

Eventually Charlie worked herself so hard that she became more susceptible to sickness, falling ill one winter’s eve. From that point on, she never fully recovered. Les became desperate to earn some coin that he fell back into his illegal ways to steal from those around him. Using his element, Les could effectively freeze a small area for a moment or two while his cohorts would raid ships and steal cargo. The money he made—as well as a name for himself—was enough to get Charlie on a ship to Valetudo where Les was in contact with a Health Consular…or so he thought.

Upon arriving in Valetudo, Les realized that the Health Consular was actually a Health Apprentice—he had lied for a nice payday—and he could do nothing more than ease Charlie’s pain as she slowly slipped away. Without any source of income, Les could not scratch together enough coin to see a more experience Health element user that Charlie’s condition required. In her last few days in this world, Les watched over Charlie as her life slipped through his fingers, unable to do anything to stop it.

Les was never right from that point on. He drank until he forgot and passed out, then started all over again the next day. He thought about returning back home but blamed his parents somehow for Charlie’s death—it was a hell of a lot easier than blaming himself. All he wanted to do was speak with Charlie—tell her that he was sorry and that she deserved better.

And one day, in a drunken stupor, he did see her. Heard her speak. It was like she was a ghost, but Les was the one keeping her image there. He was using his time element to see her as she was before she died. He could respond to her and she could respond to him, and as Les explained everything that happened to her, he poured his heart out, crying like she had just died. When all was said and done, Charlie smiled and said that she had already forgiven him when she was alive. For some reason, this answer hurt Les more than he knew—she was too good for him. She always had been. When they first met, Les thought it was he who was better than her, but it turned out to be the other way around.

For a period of time, Les used his Time element to speak to Charlie every day—it didn’t matter that she didn’t remember the conversations. What mattered the most is that Les was able to speak with his wife, as if she was still alive. Speaking to his dead wife wasn’t easy, however, and began taking its toll both physically and mentally. At one point, Les had forgotten to buy food with what little money he had, and ended up collapsing on the side of the street near some vendors. The momentary failure of his body and spirit, as he lay on the dirt road watching his vision fade, was something of a desired release—perhaps if he died now, he would get to be with his wife, wherever her spirit was. It was the best feeling he had felt in a long time.

When Les came to, he was lying on a cot in a home that he did not recognize. Groggy and disoriented, he attempted to sit up but found this simple task to be impossible to perform. Someone nearby rushed to his side and helped ease Les back down onto the cot while offering some cloudy liquid from a bowl. As the bowl was placed to Les’s cracked lips, he could tell that it was some sort of broth—salty and warm. His initial reaction was a cough as the soup ran down his dry interior, only taking a few sips as he could tolerate. As his eyesight focused, Les could see that the person feeding him was an older lady in her 60’s with many lines adorning her face.

For a few days, Les slept in the cot, waking up every now and again to drink some broth and break a sweat or throw up. He wasn’t simply regaining his strength but also recovering from his alcoholic binge for the past few months. By the morning of the fourth day, he was able to stand up with little assistance. Les attempted to sneak out of the house but the older lady was waiting, somehow expecting this sort of behavior. Reluctantly agreeing to the woman’s invitation to breakfast, the woman—introducing herself as Kora—explained how she had a neighbor bring Les back to her home in a wheelbarrow and then asked him why he was lying on the ground, nearly emaciated. Les was hesitant to describe his abilities with his element as they sounded far-fetched and almost as if he was on something, but Kora was intrigued by what he had to say. In fact, this opportunity proved invaluable to Kora as she had recently lost her husband and wanted to ask him something before he died. Feeling a bit uncomfortable about contacting someone he didn’t know, Les couldn’t see any other way to pay the old lady back—if not for her, he might have died.

Thankfully, the odds were in Les’s favor when he attempted to contact Kora’s husband. First off, he had died in this very house and he had only died recently, which helped Les immensely. The whole experience was quick, and it seemed like both the deceased husband and the living wife were eternally grateful for the experience. The entire situation was the first time that Les actually felt good about himself. Unfortunately, Kora had mentioned something about her experience to friends, and the word spread a little farther than Les would have liked it to. At first, he offered his services for free but people thought it wrong not to pay. Using the alias Lucio—because it sounded like someone who was from Valetudo—Les would take whatever payment families could offer for a chance to speak to loved ones long since passed. Sometimes Les could reach these people—sometimes he couldn’t.

At first, Les would get maybe one family a week in terms of business, but when word began to spread outside of the community, people began flocking—too many people. The attention Les was garnering was bordering on dangerous so he decided to only offer his services to very few clients with a lot of money and the influence to keep rumors from spreading. His previous “miracles” that he had worked turned into nothing more than clever magic tricks. But these so-called magic tricks were enough to get the attention of an audience, and thus Les’s acting career was born.

Years past. Everyone forgot names like Leslie and Charlie Worthington. The only name that people remembered nowadays was The Great Lucio Romano, a famous magician with proclivity to dazzle and amaze with his astounding tricks. Originally Les attempted to be a good magician by using his Time element, but he realized that he could not use it in small doses—he had become so used to wielding heavy amounts of his element for speaking with those in the past that smaller uses became too difficult. So everything he did on stage, as a disclaimer, was not at the aide of any elements. Some of the tricks he performed were pretty basic--sleight of hand sort of stuff--and some tricks required trap doors in the ground, mirrors angled just right, and perfect timing. A lot of the tricks were simple enough, but the audience wanted to know how Les was doing them without leaning against the control of his element.

Eventually, The Great Lucio Romano's popularity gave rise to riches that Les had only seen on his father's estate in Ignis. He ended up building his own theatre near the heart of Valetudo, displaying not only his talent but the selective talents of many other performers in the area. It even had a separate area that he considered his dressing room but was larger than most houses in the city. Now Les was known for his magical talents, but with so much money available to him, he delved into the debauchery, drinking, and general depravity that one could, wasting a lot of coin on stupid things. For a while he was able to spend coin like it was going out of the style and the theatre never suffered for it. In recent years, Les has had a bit of trouble with gambling debts and making ends meet after squandering so much of the wealth that he earned. He stays afloat, but just barely.

Sometimes people who were clever enough to stumble across the information—either from sources that knew Les’s real talents or from old rumors and heresy—would solicit him for a job. Sometimes he’d take it. Sometimes he wouldn’t. Sometimes he’d be too busy with ladies and booze, having drunken orgies, and sometimes he’d be alone, by himself, speaking to his dead wife. In recent years, Les has very few times turned down a bag of coins for services simply because he's hard up for the money and refuses to sell any of expensive personal possessions.

RP Sample: ”Dewie? What does this look like to you?”

Les had popped out from around a corner to pose a question to his servant, whom he called Dewie. The Seran man, tall, muscular and darker in complexion, turned to look down the hallway and rolled his eyes at what he saw. Les was absolutely naked—head to toe—looking down at his junk. His index finger and thumb were placed around the end of his penis as he lifted it up, exposing his dangling testicles. The other hand was also gripping a neck, but instead it was a bottle of hard spirits that was half gone. Despite Les being intoxicated enough to be in such a position; his face showed genuine concern for what was going on with his balls.

”I’m not fucking around Dewie…I think—“ Les leaned downward to get a better look at his change purse. ”—I think there’s some sort of rash on my giblets.” Les’s voice trails off as he starts to recall some of the women he had slept with recently. ”Hopefully it’s a fucking rash…” Looking back up to see that Dewie had not moved an inch from where he was standing before, Les’s attitude became more volatile.

”Well come on then! Let’s have a look at it, yeah? If I was that fucking flexible to see the bottom of my testicles I wouldn’t need to be sleeping with so many women now would I?” Les’s attitude quickly changed from angry to desperate as he felt a terrible urge to scratch his testicles right off. ”Please, Dewie? Just a peek?” Dewie begrudgingly started over to Les to which the magician breathed a sigh of relief. The large Seran man sighed and dropped to one knee to get a better look at the infected area while keeping a safe distance. His facial expression was cautious and somewhat concerned, which was starting to twist up Les’s stomach—like there was something really bad going on down there.

”Well?? You just going to meat gaze or are you going to tell me what the fuck is going on down there?” Dewie didn’t usually say much, but Les was good at discerning what he was attempting to say. His Caristian was shit and Les couldn’t speak much Seran anyway, but they had a working relationship. And what he could understand from the man was that it was infected or something. But before Les could say anything, a woman—a regular of Les’s—opened the front door looking for a little romp. Inebriated herself, he stumbled in laughing until she looked up. What she saw was Les’s servant on one knee and Les standing in front of him, stark naked. Her laughter quickly ceased as she made a weird face, Dewie and Les both looking at her.

”This is a private showing, yeah? So get. The fuck. Out!” The woman started giggling at Les’s anger nearly falling out of the room and closing the door behind her. Dewie turned back around and sighed, not wanting to be affiliated with Les’s Johnson. And Les could give two shits about who saw who staring at his privates—he wasn’t ashamed to lay his trouser snake out for anyone to see. Except for a child. That’s pretty fucked up, even for Les.

”Alright, alright…go fetch that little tin the apothecary sold me and bring it here.” Putting on his best hardened face, Les took a swig of his spirits, making a face from the burning sensation that followed. He then leaned back slightly as he stood, tipping the bottle to spill onto his exposed giblets. Had the wound not been open, the alcohol wouldn’t have done much, but since the skin was irritated—oh it burned. Enough to make Les almost rip his cock off as he threw a fit from the pain.

”FUCK! ASS!” Les jumped around and stomped his feet, hoping that his silly motions would somehow cause the pain to subside. He let go of his member and took another swig from his bottle, walking into his bedroom like a cowboy who had ridden a horse for days on end. ”Well this is fucking magical, isn’t it? I’ve got to go on stage soon and my chestnuts are fucking roasted.” Pivoting on his heel as he fell onto his bed, his legs hung off the side as he lay out, making sure to keep his bottle of spirits upright so he didn’t spill. It was going to be a wonderful night.

Petitions: Element Petition
Element Petitioning: Time
Central to the Character: The Time element is central to this character because while he is full of hot air as a performer, he has enough clout to speak to minds that exist in the past, not to mention altering an individual's timeline. It will draw in all sorts of plots for the character to be a part of. I found it amusing that the character could control the Time element and speak to people in the past yet he spends his time as a magician, ‘conjuring’ up shite for coin.
Central to Plot Development:: Similar situation that was explained in the statement above—being able to alter an individual's timeline or speak to people who existed in the past could possibly open up plot lines for others to pursue with their characters. You have a character that is suffering from a troublesome bout of amnesia? Les might be able to speak to the You that existed when you weren’t suffering from memory loss. Want to speak with a loved one who died without telling you some horrible/awesome secret? Les can facilitate that encounter as well. You don't want your character to remember something horrible or questionable about their past? Les can help as well...just...don't scratch at the wall.

I know the element petition cannot be approved yet, but I just wanted to give a little bump to see if there is anything that I need to work on for this in the meantime. Thanks!
