Welcome to Carista. We are an original fantasy roleplay forum set in the world of Carista -- a place where the eight different systems of control are divided across countries and oceans and blood. The systems of control are Fire, Water, Earth, Wind, Ice, Plant, Health and Time -- all given to humanity in ages past.

Now, during a golden age throughout the kingdoms, rumors have come of the Loners discovering an ancient building deep underground that contains a legendary Relic that may hold the key to ultimate power or destruction. And so the race of kingdoms begin with the prize being a Relic of untold power...

Alias: Dray

Age: 27

Contact Information: PM's ought to work. You can also reach me at dracothrope@gmail.com for email-based RP, though I prefer to discuss that ahead of time!

RP History: I started out on forums using ezboard formatting back around 1999, and played within fantasy settings as dragons and magical, overpowered draconic creatures. this segued into dragonriders of pern PBeM games from about 2000 to 2002, and from there I began hopping around. At that point I had accrued a posse of RP buddies, so I made the transition to AIM-based RP in all kinds of genres (most of them tied in to fantasy-settings of one kind or another.) from 2002 until about 2005. At that point, I discovered Livejournal, Insanejournal, and later, Dreamwidth-based games, and dabbled in them from time to time. However, in 2005 I began college, so I mostly had to set RP aside except for over IM programs with a few, dedicated friends.

Graduating in 2010, I had mostly grown apart from my RP posse, either acquiring different interests from them or simply losing contact. At this point I hadn't had a lot of time to RP at all, so I returned to Dreamwidth to RP in meme communities with original characters, and spent time RPing with my significant other over IM programs when time allowed. Because of this, though I enjoy RPing original characters in all sorts of settings, my word-counts tend to be short and concise. This is the first time that I've entered a forum-based RP in ages and ages, so I may be a little slow to pick up the nuances. Never the less, I'm excited to give it a try, again.

How you found Carista: Delilah suggested this game to me after I posted a character request on RPG-Directory. Truthfully, I'd noticed the game in her signature when she greeted me in the newbie forum, but for a while I was intimidated by the forum structure and the amount of reading to be done. Now that I'm caught up on the basics, I'm curious to see how the plot-driven aspects of this world mesh with the player base. It all seems like an engaging premise... and I like the element randomization and character-growth options made available!

HI DRAY.

I'm milksteak, aka Milk. If I'm gonna be honest, I also was intimidated by Carista and actually joined another board before coming here. But this one totally stole my love. 8D It'll do the same to you.

Anyhow, I'm also an LJ/AIM RP vet, so I can see where brevity becomes habit. We'll ease you into our style and our lore stuff gently, with a firm but loving hand that will make you feel safe but at the same time, exhilarated.

Oh my!

Okay, so I have noticed something weird but kind of amusing: there are a lot of characters who are older men, and a lot of younger women, but very few in reverse. Is that odd? Is it odd that I'm planning on adding yet another young lady to the mix? :I Should I be making a matriarch instead?!

I think I get too invested in checking boards out before writing up a character sheet. XD

Nah, don't worry about it. I know a few people have older women characters in mind (including myself), so don't feel limited to one age group/gender/whatever.

Welcome Dray!

I am very excited that you decided to give us a go. I know that the site can sometimes be a little overwhelming, but from what I have heard from other members, it is worth it. In general we are all pretty chill people about pretty much everything, myself included. Carista is a world that I created and I often don't mind sharing it in the ways of development and ideas. Thus, if you have a character concept or a lore idea or whathave you, reach out and I'd be glad to take a look. There really isn't a "this is the only thing that is okay" here. Promise.

Anyway! I am sure that you will catch on very well and we are definitely here to help. Speaking of helping, this is my little staff blurb -- I am a member of the Carista Panel on Carista, as well as being its founder. The four Panels on Carista run the show and the members run them. For more information on what the Panels are and how players can join them, click the panel buttons to the left in the sidebar. One that I'd like to mention is the Welcome Panel. Their job is to, that's right, Welcome you. I am sure you will see the two of them floating around. In addition to Welcoming people in general, they have also set up a Mentoring program. Each new member is assign a Mentor -- they serve as a direct line to information about the site and what have you. I can always answer questions, as can anyone usually, but a mentor gives you a direct line to someone who has taken on the role to specifically know everything about Carista. I will be sending you a PM with that assignment soon!

Lastly, some helpful links are at the top right of the forum for your use (I use them daily). I am so glad that you are giving us a go and I can't wait to see the characters and the artwork you bring to our site!

Also, don't worry about the character demographic. It'll sort itself out when we have more characters running around. Play who you want, always XD

Hey Dray! Welcome to Carista, glad you joined us. I'm Saeyer, Delilah's temporary co-member of the Carista Panel and a member of the Welcome Panel. Any questions? Fire away. I also love to bounce character ideas around, so hit me up.

DAMNIT! Can't ever remember what account I'm on. ANYWAY! <_<

Hey Dray! I like your avatar...it is very interesting ^_^

That is an interesting observation about the character demographic though. Perhaps because older men and younger women are of the same maturity >.>

Pfa ha haha! I like you guys.

Saeyer, I sent you a PM with a bombardment of questions about Terra and the war. Thanks so much for the opportunity to drum up a background!

I'm excited to get around to plotting! I'm very curious about the relic plot... everything about Ignis and Terra in the grand scheme of things, actually. Is Terra's culture built around China's, in a vague sort of way? poor farming villages, rich, walled off noble court, ridiculously complicated bureaucracy to handle ridiculous amounts of paperwork? Chinese-looking architecture?

eta: Oh, snap! I just noticed that I had missed the entire 'Kingdom Archive' sub-forum. Most of these questions are being answered by the writing in there. Sorry, moving on!

Lol, Jayne.

We like you too, Dray! I have a feeling that you will open a can of worms or two, just like Sar and Tess did.
