Sarah smiles as her eyes are set on the brown leather skin of her diary. Her hands caress the old material as she thinks of the event that occurred that day. Sarah opens the book slowly, the smell of aged paper filling her nostrils. She begins writing in her journal.

The most interesting occurrence happened to me today. It was a sign from the Creator that you are watching me. You have always told me I was an optimist. I would look into the rainy sky and see the clouds and hear thunder roar. I felt the rain on my skin and smiled. Oh yes, I smiled. It was refreshing after a long day of teaching. Some of them kids were not parented right. Great. There I go again. All judgemental, like you always told me. Oh look at me, all sidetracked. What happened today was beautiful. A student walked up to me and shared her story with me. I, Creator forgive me, never noticed her before in my class. Probably one of those silent ones who sat in the back. I am known to be quite personable, so it makes sense that this woman would speak to me about her broken family and her pain. She had your eyes, momma. She had your beautiful eyes. And her voice flowed like yours. She had that fire in her heart like we did, Momma. I remember when you used to try to make me wear that disgusting dress. I burned the house down, remember? When I get angry, you see hellfire in my eyes. Oh no, Sarah don’t you dare get emotional! I’m sorry momma, I just need to stop writing right now. I cannot think straight when I think of you. I know it has been over two years but you were one hell of a Mother. Maybe it is just hard for me to...We will talk later.

History:

I was a girl, once upon a time. A beautiful girl. My parents liked to keep my hair to shoulders constantly. They thought it looked prettier that way. I thought differently. I wanted to grow my hair out, like my friends. Now, when I see kids walkin’ around with hair down to their shoulders I smile and remember the good ole’ days. I was a teenager when I found my first love. He was a one hell of a man. He knew how to treat me right. We were so happy together. It lasted for years, that relationship. It ended abruptly though. I had traveled for a few months with my father. He wanted to show me the other cities. I walked in on him sleeping with another woman. I had to control myself. I didn’t want to burn that boy to a crisp. I ran out of their as fast as I could and went right home.
Boy couldn’t keep it in his pants for a few months. He is worth jack in my book. But that did not mean I was not without pain. I had never felt more vulnerable.

Mother was always there for me. Especially when that boy cheated on me. She showed me that in the darkness there is always light. There must be light. I applied this to every part of life. Even when my mother had been affected by the plague. My poor father was unprepared. He being blessed in the system of health was supposed to have all the answers. I prayed to the Creator while he looked for way to help her. But he couldn't and the Creator gave her the peace she deserved. My father quickly found a way to destroy the plague to make sure nobody else suffered. He decided to move to Valetudo to leave all the pain behind. I couldn't agree more and followed him. That was when I met James Ardor. He was also traveling to Valetudo and my father trusted him enough to bring him along. My father was quite a rich man.

That is when my father took over the University of Health. The man was Blessed and quite the charmer. I still wanted to be tutored by James.
Over the years I had learned many things from James. He had showed me the ways of controlling fire. He was like family to me. Slowly but surely I had become a Master in the art of Flames. After my training, I became a teacher in the University. I taught students how to use the power of flames. I also taught a class about Creationism. I had become quite the teacher during the next forty years. This job was my calling. I was well known by the city of Valetudo and had the respect of every passerby on the street.

Fangs deep inside her neck. The taste of blood floods his mind. This taste is so familiar to him. Each time just as satisfying. This beautiful dames name was Maria. Her hair is as black as night, and her skin, white as snow. Her sweat was as bitter as lime, but arousing nonetheless.

He retracted his fangs and brought his face close to hers. "You are a gem, Maria. I have loved and provided for you for twenty years. Twenty years that have flown by too fast." He kisses her lips gently. Her lips are warm, like always. They move with his, weakly. He had drained too much blood from her. He takes his lips away and smiles that charming smile he is known for.

" A vampire, in service to me. I trust you with all my soul, all my being. We have been through so much together. You have shown me what life has taken away from me so long ago." He gets up from the bed, in the nude. Scars adorn his upper body. He looks around on the floor for his clothes. They were all black. Pants, leather vest and jacket. As he slips them on, he speaks. "Maria, my love. I have a question for you. I understand if you are too weak to answer. Simply blink twice if you still love me."

Maria blinks twice slowly, putting all her energy into it.

He sits down on the bed and sighs. "I have another question for you. If you do not answer it I will have to cut the string that your life depends on." A tear forms in her right eye. "Why did you betray me? Why did you make love to my brother?" He says this softly.

Maria tries to speak but all she does is make odd sounds due to the absence of her tongue.

Verzul nods and walks over to his mirror. His skin is white, his eyes almost silver and his black hair reaches his shoulders. He pulls open the top drawer, a syringe is filled with a green liquid. He picks it up and sits on his bed once again. "Do not worry my love, you will not feel any pain." He injects her with the poison. She closes her eyes voluntarily. Her breath slowly fades away and she dies.

"I am sorry my love." He picks her up and puts her next to his brother in a human sized box.
